Featuring the poetry of John Yamrus

………………………………………………………………………………

the

sad
thing…

the
wonderful

thing…

the
glorious

thing…

is

i
don’t think
i’ll ever be able
to finish this poem.
……………………………………………………..

if

you
want
your poems

to
be
real...

live them.

don't
write
them.
………………………………………………

even if

the
poems
get ignored,

the
work
gets done.

your
life

is
saved.
……………………………………..
please,

don’t
tell me

you,
or she,
or him, or it

is an
old soul.

it’s
a cry
for attention,

and
i just
don’t need it.

instead,
show me
something new.

sit down
at the typer,
slit your wrists
and let your old soul

bleed all over the page.
…………………………………………………………………………….

the only thing

dumber
than a writer,

is
someone
who admits
to being a writer.

i am
5 foot 7,

63
years old.

and i
love dogs.

i am
not dumb,

and
i admit

nothing.

………………………………………………

the streets

are
dark,

and
it's not

only
the night.
